Job Description

This opportunity is for a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) specializing in school-based therapy services. The position involves providing occupational therapy support across grades K-12 during the 25/26 school year on a full-time, contract basis. Services are itinerant, requiring flexibility and collaboration with the districts Occupational Therapist (OT).

Responsibilities:

• Deliver occupational therapy interventions to students in grades K-12, including elementary, middle, and high school levels
• Collaborate with the district OT to develop and implement therapy plans tailored to individual student needs
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports aligned with school and state requirements
• Support classroom teachers and staff in promoting student engagement and functional skills
• Travel between schools as part of the itinerant caseload, ensuring consistent therapy services

Qualifications:

• Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Valid New Mexico Public Education Department (NM PED) certification for school-based practice
• Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with educators and therapists
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload and adapt services to meet individual student needs
