Position Summary:
The Recovery Coach provides peer-based recovery support to individuals enrolled in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). This role focuses on empowering individuals to build recovery capital, strengthen coping strategies, and access community resources. Working collaboratively with the PHP clinical team, the Recovery Coach supports clients in developing recovery plans, implementing individualized approaches, maintaining motivation, and integrating recovery into daily life. This is a dynamic role which emphasizes creativity and spontaneity, as coaches will continue to adapt to meet the needs of individual clients.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Deliver peer recovery support through individual sessions and group activities.
• Collaborate with the PHP interdisciplinary team to promote holistic recovery care.
• Assist clients in setting recovery goals, identifying strengths, and overcoming barriers.
• Connect clients with community resources including housing, employment, education, healthcare, and peer recovery networks.
• Promote relapse-prevention strategies, harm reduction, and wellness practices.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with program standards.
• Serve as a recovery role model by practicing healthy behaviors and maintaining professional boundaries.
• Advocate for clients’ needs within the treatment team and broader recovery community.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision, and continuing education.
Requirements:• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred.
• Certification as a Peer Support Specialist/Recovery Coach (or current enrollment in certification course) or CADC-I/CADC (Preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of sustained recovery from substance use and/or mental health challenges.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage clients using motivational interviewing and strengths-based approaches.
• Knowledge of community recovery resources and systems of care.
• Experience in a PHP, IOP, or related behavioral health setting preferred.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus.
