Pension Benefit Analyst job at Career Strategies in Glendale, CA.

This position is with a reputable Healthcare Insurance and Pension Provider. The Pension Benefit Analyst will assist clients/participants with their Pension Plans, process payments and applications, provide retirement benefits assistance, handle death benefits, vesting, and ensure compliance. Candidates must have Pension Benefit experience and knowledge.

This is a high call volume role, involving customer assistance over the phone and via email. Benefits include:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Correspond with Clients/Participants, third parties, consultants, vendors as needed.
  2. Advise Clients/Participants regarding retirement benefits, death benefits, vesting, etc., via multiple communication channels.
  3. Implement benefit modifications as directed by the Board of Directors or Benefits Committee, or mandated by law.
  4. Process death benefits and notify beneficiaries.
  5. Calculate retirement and death benefits, including overpayments or underpayments.
  6. Approve credits and process debits for compliance.
  7. Locate beneficiaries, process related documents, and notify of benefits.
  8. Work with consultants to ensure legal and trust compliance.
  9. Handle legal documents such as joinders and subpoenas.
  10. Process applications for death benefits and follow up on pending items.
  11. Determine eligibility for health fund coverage.
  12. Calculate benefit adjustments due to re-employment, audits, or legal orders.
  13. Prepare annual statements and retirement application estimates.
  14. Review power of attorney documents for legitimacy.
  15. Verify income, contributions, and process related requests.
  16. Handle marriage/divorce documentation and beneficiary status.
  17. Manage electronic fund transfers and international wire requests.
  18. Determine monthly pension awards and process estate payments.
  19. Comply with IRS levies and process pension payables.
  20. Respond to email inquiries and prepare claim denials and appeals.
  21. Review and process Qualified Domestic Relations Orders.
  22. Train junior team members and cross-train within the department.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree preferred; Associate Degree required in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Business, or related field. Experience in pension benefits administration or finance is required.
