We are looking to hire a Neuro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Educator to help develop, shape and grow the clinical research team in our Neuro-Oncology research program. The Division of Neuro-Oncology within the Department of Neurosurgery is a referral, recommendation, and treatment service for adult patients with primary and metastatic brain tumors. The Neuro-Oncology Service Clinical Trials Program is an active research program that includes studies supported by the Pharmaceutical Industry; investigator-initiated studies, studies in collaboration with outside universities and NCI-cooperative groups; and SPORE grants for cancer research. The Division of Neuro-Oncology as a part of UCSF is committed to providing outstanding care to our patients and includes clinicians with experience and expertise working with patients of diverse cultures and experiences. Led by Edward Chang, MD, Chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery and John De Groot, MD Director of the Division of Neuro-Oncology the program is staffed by a strong group of collegial faculty, with Medical, Nursing, Neuropsychological staff and Research staff contributing to a high-quality collaborative multidisciplinary team. To support the growth within our clinical trials division, we are now seeking to recruit a Clinical Research Project Manager. We are seeking an experienced Neuro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to serve as a clinical and operational resource within our oncology research division. The Neuro-Oncology CNE is an advanced practice registered nurse who serves as an oncology and clinical trials nursing clinical expert, leader, consultant, educator, and mentor for the nursing staff and teams at UCSF. The specialized knowledge and skills required for this role include clinical expertise in oncology (including standard of care chemotherapy and investigational agents); design and implementation of evidence-based practice (EBP), education and mentorship, consultation, performance improvement, leadership and clinical trial development and implementation. This CNS role has three spheres of impact across the health system that include the patient/family, nursing/interprofessional teams, and the organization/health system. This role works collaboratively with the unit's clinical leaders, clinical research coordinators, investigation pharmacy, and clinical research center staff to support and ensure high-quality standards of nursing care and professional practice to optimize patient, team, and system outcomes. Further, the CNS will play a pivotal role in advancing the quality and efficiency of clinical trial execution while supporting the education, development, and performance of Clinical Research Nurses. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in oncology nursing, clinical trials, and staff education, with a proven ability to drive outcomes in a fast-paced academic medical setting. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the CNS will ensure clinical trials are conducted with excellence, compliance, and a strong focus on patient-centered care. This role requires leadership in systems improvement, staff coaching and competency development, and clinical oversight of research-related nursing practices. Experience collaborating with senior leadership, research staff and different departments across UCSF is a plus. This position will also be responsible for supporting all clinical activities related to trial development activation, such as helping ensure pharmacy components are set up with the appropriate groups (internal and external to UCSF), assisting with obtaining letters for unit floors, etc. This position will strongly focus on developing key policies and procedures relative to clinical trial management in order to streamline operations in our division. The ultimate goal being that every clinical trial has a clinical person completing tasks and creating collaborations where necessary for trial completion in order to ensure compliance and excellence at all times. Team success relies on collaborative performance, sustained morale, consistency in workload and task distribution across disease programs, and a shared commitment to high-quality customer service. To achieve service quality, the Neuro-Oncology CNE will work closely with staff to identify areas in need of training and development, review, and refreshers. The Neuro-Oncology CNE also works closely with the Director of Translational Research and the Research Manager to report and interpret performance and metric data Location : Parnassus - May require travel to other locations as needed.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $218,200 - $245,700 (Annual Rate).
